Architect Agata Łysiak-Pisera of Piętro Agata Łysiak has designed the interiors of a 140-square-metre home in Rawa Mazowiecka, Poland, for a couple with three children. The family previously lived in a 50-square-metre flat. The project took several years to complete, but retained a cohesive, bold character through changing trends and numerous revisions, with wallpaper murals and gold accents taking the lead.
More space for a family of five
The house was designed for a couple with a daughter and two sons, whose move from a 50-square-metre flat meant a considerable increase in space. The client had two priorities: plenty of storage and an interior that looked luxurious. The budget was not unlimited, however, so the architect had to find carefully considered solutions.

Five years and 20 wallpaper designs
Łysiak-Pisera began the project in 2019, while the house was still under construction. Work continued over several years, during which trends shifted and the client’s choices changed with them. The architect tried out around 20 different wallpaper mural designs for the interiors. One had already been hung in the living room before it was stripped off and replaced with another. There were difficulties with contractors, too: the joiner who eventually delivered the beautiful bespoke furniture took a full year to complete it.
Despite the lengthy process and repeated changes to the design, the scheme remained cohesive. New features, including backlit mirrors, were incorporated as work progressed.

Gold accents and wallpaper murals
The interior makes a strong impression from the entrance. Gold accents recur from room to room, establishing a clear visual rhythm throughout the house. Wallpaper murals by Wonderwall are a key decorative feature, with carefully chosen patterns giving each area its own recognisable character. Bespoke furniture completes the scheme and provides generous, well-planned storage.

Completed in stages, the house fully meets the needs of its five occupants. Its bold colour palette and consistent detailing give the interior a memorable character.
